This book is a general history of ancient Hong Kong, focusing on cultural development and social change. The author briefly describes the historical milestones of Hong Kong's thousands of years of history in six periods: ancient times, Qin and Han dynasties, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern dynasties, Sui and Tang dynasties, and Song and Yuan dynasties. On this basis, the author explores the history of Hong Kong society from three topics: the administrative evolution of Hong Kong, residents and socio-economics, and religion and education before modern times. The author points out that Chinese culture, which has a tradition of thousands of years, is the root and foundation of Hong Kong's growth, and has never been disturbed. The cultural exchange between China and the West for more than a hundred years is one of the reasons for Hong Kong's rapid development. The future of modern Hong Kong depends on the combination of cultural traditions and international perspectives. The author compiled this general history of ancient Hong Kong in the hope that more people will have a deeper understanding of Hong Kong's history. He strives to be truthful, and cover a comprehensive view.
