Drama teaching extends beyond mere acting, offering a deeper significance. ""The Stage of Life in the Classroom: Teaching Literature through Drama"" specifically focuses on literature classes, highlighting the advantages of incorporating drama into teaching. Through active engagement, students can empathize with characters, contemplate their circumstances and life choices, develop a deeper appreciation for literary language and style, and showcase their creativity through writing. This approach nurtures emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and aesthetic sensibilities, fostering a profound understanding of life through self-exploration and collaborative work. To maximize the impact of teaching and learning, this book elucidates how to integrate drama teaching theories and techniques, such as monologue drama, questioning roles, reading theater, author's multiple voices, and roundtable discussions, into literature classes. Moreover, these methods can be adapted to other humanities and social sciences. In the vibrant drama classroom, students embody diverse characters, heroes, and literary figures from different eras, facilitating empathy and intellectual exchange both on and off the stage. This book serves as an invaluable resource for those interested in drama teaching, offering detailed script examples as practical reference material.

Content summary: Former principal of Diocesan Boys' School, Cheung Cheuk Cheung, shares little-known anecdotes and stories about the school and its students and teachers. One article is even co-written by Diocesan Boys' School alumni from different eras, reminiscing about their high school years. Diocesan Boys' School students from the 1960s and 1970s love to talk about two things: getting caned in the principal's office by Mr. Lowcock, and senior students staying in the Headmaster's House for a weekend or even up to ten days during holidays. Not every senior student was given this privilege, but those who stayed in the Headmaster's House were free to read books, listen to music, and chat with Mr. Lowcock if he was in a good mood. Some alumni say that Mr. Lowcock was inspiring.
