"The Days of Eating Potatoes" may not be a fully autobiographical work, but it draws from my personal experiences, making it akin to an autobiographical text. Its purpose is to serve as an inspiration, acknowledging the differences between today's Hong Kong society and the 1950s, while recognizing that some young people still face challenges. This book is dedicated to those who have not received the same advantages from their parents or society. "Childhood Memories," written in the 1980s, can be seen as a precursor to "The Days of Eating Potatoes." Reflecting on the past, the hardships endured during the days of eating potatoes pale in comparison to the trials of my childhood. Despite the difficulties, the pursuit of set goals is deemed worthy of sacrifices. I believe many children in Hong Kong may relate to similar experiences from their own childhood. My hope is that this book will instill in them the same determination I had: to persevere in the face of adversity.

In "Don't Pity those with the Same Disease, See a Doctor if You're Sick," a new character, the blue creature, challenges the notion of reality. It symbolizes the deepest, often concealed aspects of one's self. This character's girlfriend (or apparent lack thereof) and the appearance of Yogi dog add intriguing dimensions to the narrative, especially in discussions about love and self-reflection.

Upon his return to Hong Kong, Ni Kuang publicly announced that he had used up his "writing quota" and ceased writing until his friend Cai Lan unblocked him. Little did he know that once he resumed "climbing the grid," he couldn't stop! This book compiles Ni Kuang's most recent and compelling articles following his "unblocking." Each piece is exquisitely crafted, brimming with sharp wit and profound wisdom. As Ni Kuang eloquently expresses, "Anyone, in their lifetime, only gains, never loses... If you extend it, there is no such thing as a broken heart: originally there was no this person, this person left, it is still no this person, what is the loss?"
