Sha Tau Kok - a place that a Hong Kong person may never visit in his or her lifetime for no reason. Sha Tau Kok (especially the market) is a restricted area on the border, located in the rural areas of the New Territories, with rich ecological value and strong cultural background, and is also a good place for travelers to explore. It was once a traditional southern Chinese society, and was politically the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, with close ties to mainland China. As a bridgehead of the border, it was also an area that the British had focused on developing since the opening of Hong Kong. As a symbol of Hong Kong's history, it cannot be ignored. Today, after being closed for 60 years, this area faces impact of accelerated urbanization. More so than ever, it is necessary to have a better understanding of its history and cultural heritage in order to navigate its future development.

Serialized in City Magazine in the 1970s, "The Woman who wears Kenzo" was first published by the predecessor of SCMP Books. It has been out of print for a long time, but it is still talked about today because the mentality of the new women in the 1970s book still resonates with women today. One of the founders of City Magazine Peter Dunn assumed the identity of the fictional character Mary Chin, who knows how to enjoy life, has good taste, and has a bitchy personality. She teaches readers how to enjoy material life and shares with readers the emotional journey of herself and her friends on the road of work and love. There are inevitably comments on various urban men and women, and cold irony on social phenomena, with every word being a gem and laughter with tears.

* The original book is out of print. This publication is based on the 1987 version and reproduces the complete appearance of the novel, which is of great value. * This version of the book was revised by the author himself and is a longer novel than his first novel, "Dead end alley," which was written in the early post-World War II period. It depicts the different experiences of the lower-class characters, including writer Gao Huai, primary school teacher Luo Jian, unemployed veteran Du Quan, briber Mo Lun, and the ambiguous background of the young girl Bai Mei. However, they all share a common fate - poverty. They rely on each other in the post-war predicament and move towards an unknown future together. The plot is intricate and compact, the suspense is layered, and the characters shed tears and blood for their lives, which is enough to move people's hearts. The novel is also recognized as a "symbol of the maturity of Hong Kong literature." The novel went through several twists and turns from publication to publication. It was serialized in the Hwa Shiang Pao daily news in 1948, but the publication was stopped due to personnel changes in the newspaper. At the same time, it experienced changes in publishers. In order to facilitate sales to other places, the title and the "Prologue" were deleted and revised. Therefore, this book is based on the 1987 version revised by the author and is republished, retaining the original "Prologue" of the novel and with an afterword of the first edition, allowing readers to see the complete appearance of the novel. Is poverty the beginning or the end of tragedy? Read on to find out!

The book is divided into three parts: the first is about seasonal food, emphasizing the importance of eating fresh food in season, and pointing out what is good to eat in spring, summer, autumn, and winter; the second is about the food of festivals, both Chinese and foreign, which makes people drool and warms their hearts, because festivals are usually a time for family reunions; the third is about the author's deep feelings, from the cherry blossoms of Mount Yoshino to the memories of Leslie Cheung, to the author's father, with whom he had a difficult relationship, and the memories of his mother, who was inseparable from food. The book is full of knowledge about food, and is also very interesting. For example, Kanto sushi (nigiri sushi) and Kansai sushi (box-pressed sushi) are eaten in different ways, which many sushi lovers may not know. Did you know the difference between Italian gelato and ordinary ice cream? Did you know the meaning of each layer of food in the Japanese New Year's feast? Why is the turkey pardoned for Thanksgiving? The author has a wealth of experience in food and drinks, and his writing brims with emotions. With more than 300 beautiful pictures, it is like a visual feast that is overwhelming.
