4.23 World Book and Copyright Day
In 1995, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated 23 April as "World Book and Copyright Day" (commonly known as "World Book Day") to draw global attention to the development of reading, publishing and copyright. Not only does the World Book and Copyright Day promote everyone reading, but also arouse them about copyrights issues of authors and their works.
There is a significant meaning for designating 23 April as "World Book Day". In the literary world, the great English playwright William Shakespeare died on 23 April, 1616, coincidentally, many famous writers and authors were either born or passed away on 23 April, such as Spanish novelist Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, French writer Maurice Druon, Russian writer Vladimir Nabokov, Colombian writer Manuel Mejia Vallejo, Nobel Prize (Literature) winner/ Icelandic novelist Kiljan Laxness, etc. Therefore, 23 April is also a day that symbolizes the literature world.
