Anglican Narrative: Christian Women and Chinese Society

Chinese women have played a crucial role in the history of Christianity in China, actively participating in social movements and advocating for the improvement of women's social status and rights. In this comprehensive work, ten scholars from the United States, mainland China, and Hong Kong provide a cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural perspective on the history of women within Chinese Christianity. Their research covers the Anglican women's role in Chinese society, starting from the 19th century when the Anglican Church first arrived in China. They delve into topics such as the establishment of the Chinese Anglican Church, the interaction between Anglican women and local churches, and their contributions to society. These contributions include promoting women's education, establishing girls' schools, ordaining the first group of female pastors, and engaging in social work through Anglican women's groups.
