Qian Mu's Lecture on Chinese Literary History

Qian Mu, a prominent scholar of Chinese studies, wrote numerous books during his lifetime but never published a comprehensive work on Chinese literary history. Instead, future generations have relied on his scattered lecture articles and essays for insights into ancient Chinese literature. In the 1950s, Qian Mu taught ""Chinese Literary History"" at New Asia College, covering the origins of Chinese literature to the late Qing Dynasty. Although his lecture notes were never organized into a book, Mr. Ye Long, a devoted student, sorted and supplemented the notes to create a compilation. The book consists of over thirty chronologically arranged articles, offering new ideas and explanations for major differences in ancient Chinese literary history. Qian Mu's evaluation of literature is grounded in the concepts of ""history"" and ""people.""
