Great doctors, great sincerity
"The so-called 'great doctor' is not about divine skills or fame, but about sincerity: 'precision' is the study of medical skills and knowledge, and 'sincerity' is the wholehearted dedication to one's profession and responsibilities." – Gabriel Matthew Leung.
Since its establishment 130 years ago, the University of Hong Kong's medical school has produced many famous doctors and trained over a thousand graduates each year to serve the society. This book commemorates the 130th anniversary of the medical school, documenting the establishment of the medical school's predecessor, the Hong Kong College of Chinese Medicine, and the hardships and steady development of the medical school in its early days. It also includes accounts on the many "great doctors" and hospitals that have been closely related to the medical school and society as a whole for over a hundred years, as well as 18 essays by famous writers on their relationship with the medical school. The University of Hong Kong's medical school has witnessed the spread of Western medicine and medical services in Hong Kong, as well as the cultural exchanges, social development and major changes in Hong Kong.
