Alone on the road - the route of St. James pilgrimage
After more than 20 years of planning, Hong Kong fashion designer and media personality William Tang Tat-chi hiked from the Pyrenees in southwestern France to the snow-capped mountains of the northeastern corner of Spain, and then all the way to the Santiago Cathedral in the northwest corner of Spain on the Atlantic coast, along the "St. James Pilgrimage Road" for 30 days. With his heavy workload and after cervical spine injuries, the death of his beloved mother, and the diagnosis of his colon cancer, Tang felt lost and disoriented. In the New Year in 2017, Tang and his surgeon partner Clement Chan traveled around Matsushima, Aomori, Kyoto, and Wakayama on a winter trip to Honshu from north to south. Facing the vast sunset on Engetsu Island, he secretly promised himself that he must set off for the pilgrimage in the spring and summer of 2017. Facing the ups and downs of family, love, and life, Tang chose to let go and embark on the journey alone, listening to the true voice in his heart. After the journey, he cast an alternative vote for the rest of his life that may go against the tradition and the moral values of his family…
