Talent and Virtue: Women's Learning and Education in China
From the Qin to the Qing Dynasty, there were more than two thousand years. Was there any woman eligible to the called the master of Chinese classical study during those 20 centuries? Was there any woman historian who was considered a leading scholar? How did women teach their children and enlighten future generations in the old days? This book summarizes the author's endeavors in picking up bits and pieces in history as she spent years on literature review and going through historical materials. This book aims to fill the gaps in the current repertoire on Chinese women's history. The book approaches women’s history in China from general point of view, as well as on specific topics. It also elaborates on the learning and teaching modes among ancient women, thus showing the roles women played in Chinese history and culture.
